Laura McKenzie Duncan

Laura Duncan is the owner and head trainer at Laurel Manor.  She got her start riding in Virginia at a young age and soon became a member of the Loudoun Hunt Pony Club.  It is there she learned the basics for riding and jumping which formed her horsemanship foundation.  As she and her family moved around the country from Michigan, to California, and Texas, she continued eventing and participating in the United States Pony Club.

After graduating from Southlake Carroll High School in 2002, she packed up to be a Razorback.  While at the University of Arkansas, she continued pursuing her love of equestrian sports and was an active participant in the D.E. King Equine Programs.

Her mentors were Dr. Nancy Jack and Dr. Kathi Jogan who inspired and molded her passion into a career.  After completing graduate and post-graduate programs with degrees in Animal Science and Equine Science and History, she carried her passion for teaching to a local barn and began building her brand.

In 2013, Laura received her certification as a Level II Hunt-Seat Equitation through the American Riding Instructors Association.  That same year, Laurel Manor became the new home for LM Equestrian and Riding Academy.  Today, Laura can be found at the barn and the arenas each day passing on her knowledge and working hard to ignite that same spark in others
